Privacy policy
This site is a directory. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to buy, and no account to create, so most visitors never give us anything at all. This page explains what does get collected, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
CrawlSpaceHub is published by Nerd Media Hub LLC. This policy covers thecrawlspacehub.com and nothing else. Contractors listed on the site are separate businesses, and what they do with your information once you contact them is governed by their own policies, not this one.
2. What the site collects
What you send us
If you use the contact form, we get your name, your email address, the topic you pick, and whatever you write in the message. That is it. There is no other form on the site, and we never ask for payment details, a date of birth, or a Social Security number.
Form submissions are stored in the site's database and emailed to us. We keep them while they are useful and delete them when they are not. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
What the site records on its own
Like almost every website, ours logs technical information automatically:
- Your IP address, browser, and operating system.
- The pages you view, when, and which page or search sent you.
- An approximate location worked out from your IP address, usually accurate to the city or region, never to an address.
This comes from our web host, our content delivery network, and our analytics tool. It is used to keep the site working and to see which pages are worth writing more of.
The site does not ask for your precise location, and it does not read your device's location services.
3. Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies in your browser and reports to Google. Our host and content delivery network also set cookies that make caching and security work; those are not used to track you between sites.
We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or social media trackers, and we do not build a profile of you across other websites.
Three ways to opt out, any of which works on its own: block or delete cookies in your browser settings, turn on your browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works normally either way.
Fonts are served from our own server, so loading a page does not send a request to a font provider.
4. How the information is used
To answer your message, to fix and improve the site, to understand which pages people actually use, and to keep the site secure and online. Nothing else.
We do not send marketing email. There is no mailing list. If you write to us, you get a reply about the thing you wrote about, and that is the end of it.
5. Who else sees it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent it.
A small number of companies process data on our behalf because they run the pieces the site is built on: our web host, our content delivery network, our analytics provider, and our email provider. They may only use it to provide that service to us.
We will also hand over information if the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, or if it is needed to investigate abuse of the site.
6. Contractor listings
Listings describe businesses, not private individuals. The information on them comes from public sources: business listings, company websites, and public reviews. It is the same information anyone can find by searching, gathered in one place.
If you own a listed business and something is wrong, tell us and we will correct it. If you would rather not be listed at all, say so and we will remove the listing. We do not require a reason and we do not charge for either.
7. Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us and we will answer within forty-five days, usually much sooner. We will not charge you and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Residents of California, Virginia, and other states with privacy laws have these rights in writing, along with the right to appeal if we turn a request down. Say which state you are in when you write and we will handle it under that state's rules.
Realistically, unless you have used the contact form, the only thing we are likely to hold is an analytics record that is not tied to your name. We will tell you honestly if there is nothing to hand over.
8. Children
This site is meant for adults arranging work on a house. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Questions and requests
Privacy questions, correction requests, and deletion requests all go to the same place: info@thecrawlspacehub.com, or through the contact form. A person reads them.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change actually affects what happens to your information, we will say so on this page rather than quietly editing it.
